Input and Output Devices Defined: Grade 7

Do Now:

1) Post an explanation of the differences between input and output devices.

2) Search for as many different kinds and make a list of them, sorting them by input and output.

3) Select one input and one output device and give several considerations for buyers. Consider the system requirements of the computer and the needs of the clients.

The difference between input and output devices is that input devices works inside the computer. Input devices also help the computer works. If there’a no input devices, the computer won’t work. Output devices give the power energy.

    • Jackie Frens says:

Nick, When you say that a computer wouldn’t work without an input device–do you consider the power cord an input device? What do you mean that the output device give the power or energy to the computer? Which output device do you mean specifically? Ms. Jackie

    • Nicholas says:

      Input devices
webcam: Apple Isight With great image quality and integration, the Apple iSight is the best choice for Mac owners who use iChat, but it isn’t ideal for users of other messaging clients. Read review
      Specs: Web camera, 1 x IEEE 1394 (FireWire) – 6 pin FireWire, 1 x IEEE 1394 adapter, 1 x IEEE 1394 cable, F/2.8 . It cost $199. http://shopper.cnet.com/buy-webcams/

      Output devices
Plotters: HP DesignJet 755CM (36″) Inkjet Plotter
HP’s most popular printer for CAD and PDF drawings. Perfect solution for workgroup environments. Includes built-in PostScript. It cost $1095.00. http://shopper.cnet.com/buy-webcams

  2. Christoaldo Wiloto says:

    1) Input devices are devices that let you input information on your computer, yet an output device are devices that send information outside your computer to the user.

    2) Input: Scanner, Mouse, Joystick, Microphone, Keyboard, Camera, USB, External Hard Disk, CD
Output: Monitor, Speaker, Headphones, Printer, Projectors, Fax

    3) Output: If you are buying headphones, be careful when you buy because the prices indicate the quality, and expensive headphones might have better quality, but headphones come in different prices. You can use any type of earphones for any type of computers. An average cost would be around 300,000 Rp http://electronics.pricegrabber.com/

Input: USB’s come in different prices since some have more memory storage than others. Sometimes the higher the price, the bigger the memory. USB’s can have memory as small as 1 GB to 40 GB. You can use any USB in any computer/laptop. An average cost would be around 120,000 Rp

  3. Shinyoung says:

The difference between an input and output device is, input device put information or data in to the computer, and an output device is anything that is displayed from the computer and gives information out. An input device such as a computer keyboard sends information to the computer, but does not display (output) any information. An output device such as a computer printer can print information from the computer but does not send any information (input) to the computer.

    -Modems
    -Plotters
    -Voice output devices

    • Shinyoung says:

      3) Input: There are a lot of different cameras and also each of them has different prices. The price depends on how well it is made or what features it has. Most cameras, will have video and sound capability. However the average price of a Camera is $70 – $300. Cameras that are light and skinny, will generally cost more.

Output: The price of a speaker also depends on its features and size. Since we usually use speakers to listen sounds coming out from the computer, we should consider about the sound quality a lot when you are buying a speaker. Cheap speaker mostly has a low quality of sound, and the more expensive it has better sound quality. The average price of a computer speaker, costs about $50. Speakers that has high quality would cost much more expensive than the others.

  4. Denzel Tjokroardi says:

The difference between an Input device and output is that input devices are the devices that we use to communicate/ tell the computer what we want to do: e.g: Mouse, Keyboard, microphone. Output devices are the devices that the computer or the gadget use to communicate to us: e.g: monitor, printer, speaker.

have printer to Print the document)
    6.Audio Cards / Sound Card

  5. Shawn Laksmana says:

    1. Any kind of information or data that’s entered to the computer to be processed is input and anything that came out because the computer sent them is output.

2.Example of input: keyboard, mouse and cameras ETC.
Example of output: printer, monitor, projector and speaker ETC.

  6. Athisa says:

The difference between input and output devices: Input: An input device is a component used to feeding or storing information to the computer, example: keyboard, microphone, headset, mouse, webcam, and others. Output: An output device is a component that prints or sends out sounds, color, information, and other. Example: printers, monitors, speakers, recordable media (cd, dvd, etc) Source: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081025004143AAzb3zV http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060923030904AAycQRG

  7. Ander Subrata says:

    1) An Output device is something that is wired to a desktop or a laptop. Examples of input devices are (USB, Printer, HardDrive, Portable Modem, etc). Input devices are softwares that connects to a computer wirelessly. Most modems and routers connects with Wi Fi which doesn’t use wires…

    2. An example of an Output device is

    OUTPUT DEVICES
    Mouse
    KeyBoard
    USB
    Gaming Remote
    Scanner

    INPUT DEVICES
    Headphones
    Earphones
    Speaker

  8. Ezra Sadikin says:

    1) input is the term denoting either an entrance or changes which are inserted into a system and which activate/modify a process.

Output is the term denoting either an exit or changes which exit a system and which activate/modify a process.

    2) Input: Webcam, video recorder
    Output: printer, headphones

  10. Suvi says:

The difference between an input and output device is without input devices, the person using the computer would not be able to feed instructions to, or send and store information into, the computer. without output devices, the computer would not be able to give processed information back to the person who is using the computer.

  12. Input Device : Input device it’s something that from outside computer to inside computer. Like Keyboard,we type something from keyboard then what we type send to the computer.

Output Device: Output device it’s something from inside computer to outside computer. Earphone,we used earphone for listening music from our computer. Computer transfer the music from inside computer to outside computer and then go to earphone. so we can listening music.
